Rejection of Identification & Covenants / Oaths fallacy
First identified by Jan Irvin.
Falls under straw man fallacies.
Examples:
- For a Christian to come to Logos and salvation, they have to first ask for redemption and admit they were wrong, admit that the Bible is Truth, and that God is Truth, and that Satan is the liar. Part of this is saying “I’m a Christian” or “I accept Jesus Christ as my savior” as you ask for forgiveness for your sins and as you forgive others who’ve sinned against you.
Exo 20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
Mat 19:29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.
Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Saying “I’m a Christian” is not a flattering title. In fact, it could get you killed. The Christians have been persecuted throughout time because they side with Truth no matter what.
Mat 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
Mat 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
Luk 21:12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.
Luk 21:17 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.
The sophist inserts the claim to accept the Christian label as bad, a "flattering title", so one cannot come to Logos, and cannot reach salvation in Christian terms, if they don't accept the label of "Christian". In this sense a person using this fallacy for this purpose is harvesting souls for Satan, and is likely a (de-throned) black grand wizard of sorts.
Clint Richardson is the chief proponent of this version of the fallacy of the Rejection of Identification & Covenants.
