Roles - Draft
To pursue our “Real” vs. “Ideal” discussion, we should add the following:
- Cursory timeline
- Pre-opening phase
- Ongoing employee development & which employee level would ideally be addressed, such as:
- Employee Level: Hourly, Supervisory, Managerial, C-Suite, etc.
- Hourly Employee Category: Seasonal or Year-Round, Part-Time or Full-Time.
- Onboarding: Pre-Opening or Ongoing
For example:
- What percentage of hourly staff does she (Mel) anticipate as seasonal vs. “permanent”?
- A rudimentary Org Chart would be helpful: How are Business Units/Divisions/Park “Lands” arranged? Who reports to whom?
- As an example:
- Would separate functions/departments, in each area of California Dreamin’, report up their own hierarchical chain? For example, would the Food & Beverage department Supervisors or Managers, in each area or “Land” (Calibunga, Cal Soleil, Future Hotels at Cal Expo), report to a Park-wide F&B Director? This person then reporting to the Operations Director? Or,
- Area Concept:Would all functions in each area (attractions, F&B, Custodial, Merch, etc.) report to an Area Director who oversees that area. For example, an Area Director for Calibunga owns the entire operation. This Area Director model has two benefits …
Area Concept Benefits:
1) Can help reduce inter-departmental silos between functions in any given “Land”.
2) Reduces management layers and is more cost-effective.
