California Dreamin’ Internship Program

Leadership Development With the Carlsen Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Sac State

A hallmark of sustained success, in any organization, is a strong leadership team. One characteristic of successful leaders is the ability to constantly assess the health and welfare of their organization. This includes assessing the state of facilities, systems, and staff organizational development.

Another characteristic of resilient leaders and organizations is having the curiosity to compare the practices and standard operating procedures of their organization with other organizations. Exposure to new or different leadership approaches can provide insight and guidance in multiple areas:

With continuing leadership development in mind, California Dreamin’ strives to build and maintain connections with local educational institutions. As an example, for California Dreamin’ at Cal Expo, the proximity to California State University, Sacramento, also known as Sac State, offers a unique opportunity.

Within Sac State is the Carlsen Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Their mission embodies “outside the box” thinking and creativity:

Our mission is to make innovation and entrepreneurship simple, accessible and pervasive throughout the greater Sacramento region.

Via this collaboration, California Dreamin’ strives to transform the innovation and entrepreneur curriculum at Carlsen Center into actionable strategies for current leadership; creating an ever-evolving team of creative, resilient entrepreneurs.
