From page 248:
"Numerous studies have shown that people who walk or run barefoot or in moccasins have extremely low incidence of foot disease like fungi and bursitis, or other foot problems, such as flat foot, bunions, and uncomfortable toe angulations, and also suffer few movement-related injuries compared to 'shod' populations."
