AI GENERATED RESPONSE FROM BRAVE SEARCH ENGINE:
Semper Supra is the official march and service anthem of the United States Space Force, adopted in September 2022 to replace the interim use of John Philip Sousa's "The Invincible Eagle." The Latin phrase translates to "Always Above," which serves as the branch's official motto and symbolizes the service's mission to operate in the ultimate high ground.
The song was composed in 2022 by James Teachenor (lyrics and melody) and Sean Nelson (arrangement and orchestration), who gifted the copyright to the U.S. Department of the Air Force. Teachenor, a former U.S. Air Force Band member, began the process shortly after the Space Force's creation in 2019, aiming to create a modern yet traditional anthem that captures the "esprit de corps" of Guardians. The final arrangement, featuring over 30 instrumental parts, was recorded by the U.S. Coast Guard Band and publicly unveiled on September 20, 2022, at the Air & Space Forces Association conference in National Harbor, Maryland.
