Kbps

Kilobit per second (Kbps) is a way to measure how fast data moves over the internet. It means that data is being transferred at a rate of 1000 bits every second. Internet companies use terms like Kbps, Mbps (megabits per second), and Gbps (gigabits per second) to show how fast their service can download or upload things.

For instance, if you have an internet speed of 1 Kbps, it means you can move 1,000 bits of data every second. To understand this better, think about a short text email, which might be just a few kilobytes big (a kilobyte is 1,000 bytes, and each byte has 8 bits). With a speed of 1 Kbps, downloading this email would take a few seconds. However, bigger files like high-quality pictures or videos would take a lot longer to download. That's why having faster internet speeds, like Mbps or Gbps, is important for activities that need to move a lot of data quickly.
