LinkedIn Intro
Thanks for joining my LinkedIn network. You may have found me through my history with carbon offsets, but that represents just a slice of my background. First of all, I see myself primarily as a “climate risk” person, I spent many years doing management consulting in that space, and more recently have been focused on integrating climate risk with knowledge management. The result of that is the Climate Web, the closest thing today to a collective climate intelligence. And yes, it also comprehensively covers carbon offsets!
This page is actually in the Climate Web, and if you’re interested and send me a followup-email, I’ll set up a unique page for you. It will have its own URL, but you’ll also be able to find it simply by searching for your name in the Climate Web, which you can easily access here:
https://www.theclimateweb.org
Other people could theoretically run across “your” page if they were to search for your name in the Climate Web, but that seems unlikely. And I won’t put anything confidential on the page.
The advantage of a page like that is that I can very easily point you to places in the Climate Web you might want to go, and they won’t get lost in an email. I can also easily add links to this page without having to send you an email every single time. While you can’t communicate with me through the page, I can in effect respond to your emails through the page. And I can modify the page as we go.
So, a quick introduction:
The Climate Web is a massive knowledge management system covering hundreds of topics and representing more than 25,000 hours of knowledge curation. Its front door is always available to you via the .2 Premium Access thought, and that is a great place to start your exploration. A couple of other great spots you might want to explore include:
- Jump Right to Where You Want to Go! BETA
- Taking a Systems View of Climate Change!
- Leveraging a Collective Climate Intelligence
- Supporting Business Decision-Making
- The Why and How of Playing Climate Chess!
- Additional Climate Web Use Cases
I’m not going to repeat here content available through those and other pages, but simply point you to it.
Index Entries serve as topical front doors into the Climate Web, and you can access A LOT of content through Index Entries. Here are a couple of specific ones:
- I:CarbonOffsets (Deep Dive)
- I:BusinessImpactsandRisks (Deep Dive)
- I:BusinessResponsesandRiskManasgement (Deep Dive)
- I:BusinessSectors (Deep Dive)
In practice there are more than 3,000 Index Entries, and I haven’t tried to customize these specifically for your! If you let me know more granular topics you’d like me to point you to, I can include them in “your” page.
Note that anyone can explore the Climate Web on-line, but that does not compare to having it on your own computer (MUCH faster, MUCH more powerful). So remember that if you get frustrated with on-line exploration. We’re also expecting a substantial upgrade to the on-line software in the next few weeks!
You can access our Climate Web enabled courses, including our Carbon Offsets Course, Your Climate Risk MBA, and the Climate Web Users Guide, through this page.
I’ll leave it there for now and see whether you follow up on my email and express interest in using a page like this to help leverage the Climate Web going forward! If not, that’s fine too! Just let me know, and I look forward to exploring potential synergies with your interests and goals.
Regards,
Mark
