Introduction

Scientists first raised the climate change alarm more than 50 years ago, but progress in tackling climate change has been slow. Scientists still forecast (at best) disruptive and (at worst) catastrophic levels of climate warming in coming decades.

The Climatographers have worked on climate change for more than 30 years, and we've come to see climate change as a massive knowledge management and learning challenge that is reflected well in E.O. Wilson's quote below.

We've been building the **Climate Web** to help accomplish the objective laid out by E.O. Wilson when it comes to climate change decision-making. Visualizations are a great source of climate learning, and in building the Climate Web we've come across MANY such visualizations that are available to you in the Climate Web.

This Ebook is mostly for fun, focusing on a narrow set of visualizations, starting with Climate Stripes, and then moving on to other examples of the kinds of ways people are coming up with to help explain climate warming. We hope that this collection of visualizions gives you some new ways to think about climate change.

This Ebook is by no means comprehensive; for example, it doesn’t include any of the many sea level rise animations that you can access in the Climate Web.

We’ll continue to add content to this Ebook as we come across new visualizations, so keep checking back!
