Interpreting Forestry Mitigation Potentials

Forest Pixa (5)

This Mini-Course offers you a look at the discussion over the potential role of forestry and land-use change in mitigating climate change, a conversation that has evolved over the last few decades. If you are exploring this Mini-Course on-line you will need to click on each thought in turn to see the text associated with each thought. If you are accessing this Mini-Course on your Mac or PC your access to the Mini-Course is much more efficient. You can simply hover your mouse over a thought and the associated text will pop up for review. No need to click on one thought after another. Instead, accessing the material is basically instantaneous.

The Climatographers were intimately involved with the early stages of the forestry mitigation conversation, writing some of the first studies on the topic, developing many of first forestry-based climate change mitigation projects, and contributing extensively to the "land use change and mitigation" work of the IPCC (the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change). That's why this Mini-Course is so in-depth. Even then, however, it barely scratches the surface of the topic of land use and climate change in the Climate Web.

To keep your exploration of this topic as simple as possible, all the thoughts at left have been copied from elsewhere in the Climate Web, and are not linked into the rest of the Climate Web. But the original source does show up in each thought's "label" when you hover over or click on a thought.

Explore the Mini-Course in as much detail desired, and come back to it at any time. If nothing else, this Mini-Course will give you an appreciation of how the land use and climate change conversation has evolved over time, and just how much uncertainty remains.
