Kyoto Protocol
<p>Negotiated at COP 3 UNFCCC meeting in Kyoto, Japan. </p><p>Requires Annex I parties to reduce overall emissions of 6 GHGs by 5.2% below 1990 levels between 2008-2012. Flexible commitments with specific targets also vary from country to country. </p><p>Entered into force on 16 February 2005 and has 175 parties, participating Annex I countries represent 61.6% of Annex I GHG emissions in 1990. </p><p>Required that Post-2012 discussions begin by 2005. </p><p> <u>http://www.iisd.ca/climate/awg4 </u> (pg 2) </p>
