Michele Wucker’s 2016 book “The Gray Rhino: How to Recognize and Act on the Obvious Dangers We Ignore,” is a useful study in the context of climate change and willful blindness. It builds on the willful blindness ideas explored in Margaret Heffernan’s 2011 book: “Willful Blindess: Why We Ignore the Obvious at Our Peril.” Heffernan’s book is not about climate change, but it does include perhaps the best quote ever for explaining why we are where we are on climate change.

We excerpted short points from The Gray Rhino to incorporate into the Climate Web(https://app.thebrain.com/brain/2cfec560-6321-4d32-a42f-f04ad33f1092/d9fcbf68-f835-517d-aa79-fe76f30cca47), a collective intelligence for exploring all aspects of the climate change problem. We’ve pulled a copy of the points together here to allow a rapid a specific exploration of the book itself.
Through the thoughts you see below (which are in no particular order in terms of their appearance in the book), you can get a good sense of the points Wucker makes in the book. We’d also recommend you dig deeper by reading the book itself.
