Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD) or Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) is a rare mental disorder. People with Multiple Personality Disorder have more than one identity. Each individual identity has its own unique characteristics. A person's identities can be a male or female of any age. Only .01% to 1% of the population is diagnosed with the disorder. Many more people have the disorder but are misdiagnosed or fail to seek proper treatment and go undiagnosed. The first documented case of MPD was in 1646.</p>
