Let's Get This Day Under Us Too!

Good Morning, good morning …

In much too good a mood to do school. This isn’t something the others are going to like, but umm, I’ll try later, k? We’re about six LONNNNNNNG paragraphs through with one more hard paragraph, and four easy ones left on the next paper. Maybe we can get to bed without pain tonight and wake up early to finish. Theoretically, it’s not due yet, so we’re ok, but we’re also trying to work a little ahead of time. So, we got to be thinking about it.

I’m not sure what we want to think of next. I would like to say the pain pills are really helping our hurting part. We did something to our body yesterday that pretty much crippled us up. But, if its not feeling as bad as before … we feel not a care in the world!

Well, one care … have a tough morning in front of us. Sister’s mad again, because we told her we were in too much pain to watch the lower functioning group this morning. She wanted to take out the DSP so she could go shopping. She was pretty crabby when telling us we’d have to do it, so even though she stomped into the room where the DSP was and told her that we were giving her static again, we thought BLAH to her! There was some frustration in having been written up in that we felt no compulsion to help her out on her whimsical shopping trip. ESPECIALLY, since I told her we had a staffing at 10 am. She was like I don’t matter, so it didn’t matter and that’s pretty un-ok in our book. Hmpf!

Let her grumble some more as far as we care!

Ok, maybe that’s not too nice thinking. But, it’s pretty much where we are at. See all you people that thought we were so nice … we have a cranky side too!

But, we’re better at not letting us stick to our every waking thoughts. So be the case, let’s talk about something else J

The best news is that we hit a new low … 278.6 YAYYYY. We cheated in our thoughts and went back to the original high weight … so that means we’re 34 pounds down!!! Only like 138 more to go … which MEANS … we’re officially 20% done! YAYYYYYY!!! Our other best dieting effort we topped out at 32 pounds lost, so we’re now at a major marker point for that too. This means we’re doing our best dieting ever! Double YAYYYYYY!!! Whoops … forgot. At this kind of effort people aren’t dieting, they’ve made lifestyle changes hehehe.

We had a pretty good session with Dr. M. yesterday. Casey was out for quite a bit. We think there were other younger parts with her. It’s been a while since she’s had a big part of the sessions. We always walk in strangely in fear of Dr. M. But, this time we figured we were going to stay with that experience. Usually, what happens is that we scoot past him at the door, and then angrily pout for the first 3-5 minutes before someone says enough of that … wasting good time! This time we didn’t pull away.

It seems she had a lot of confused feelings to work through … started off something like being mad that he was gone, but mad also that he was there. She worked through the feelings but couldn’t cross out the part that after our mother entered the picture, that she wasn’t really there. She still fears the mother terribly. Dr. M. is usually switched into her mind of being our late grandfather. Cept she is doing better on that score, sometimes she’ll give him the benefit of the doubt that he is really Dr. M. But, she gets to a point where she becomes too upset, and then she either disappears, or is assisted by an older part, usually Jamie. She is able to stay with them, but it tires her out pretty bad. I’m (Corey) not able to figure out the details yet, that kind of stuff is usually too much for me, but after a while different parts, including myself ask more questions or get help from Dr. M. to understand what had happened. Jamie knew though right after, so she must have been pretty close.

Nobody knows what she and Dr. M. talked about though right now. I figure she’s still resting. Usually, she’ll come out after we say something about her, which we’d done earlier in writing with Mal and Bon. But, she hasn’t been out yet this morning. It is very frustrating not to be able to remember.

We’re hoping that by Thursday, we’ll get the result of the memory test done back in December. Sure would be handy to know what is going on. I think somehow the parts line up with different ways we are able to remember something. Just have to be patient.

Nothing else so important this morning. Always a little dizzying trying to remember so hard. Leaves me feeling very spacey and confused. Have to remember this morning to take the pain pills to work with us. We’re a little cranky, because we have that staffing this morning. We’re not sure if Sr. will show or not, but figure if she does show she’ll be looking for problems. We will have to work pretty fast concerning finalizing the reports. REALLY don’t look forward to that. Yesterday though I had a catch-up day with having the Assistant making up some time we had lost. So that was very good. Definite progress being made. Yesterday, she did some important filing and thinned the files along with starting the preliminary work on another set of Qnotes. She got as far as calculating the 2nd half of the year (I had already done first half), then she entered data for the calendar portion of the notes. She really is becoming quite efficient. I love to pieces her and her being there to help. She’ll be back on Thursday.

I think today after the staffing we are going to need pinpointing exactly the files that we’ll show the person from the State. That will help give us some breathing space. As far as Qnotes completed … I have an idea we’re about half way through 10 of 20 clients. That’s making us feel better too. I’d say in another couple of months we’ll be all caught up. God Bless Assistants!

Well, better be getting to it then. Hope the best for us today and that we make it past 11 am. By then the tough morning and staffing will be completed! AND, it is nice because this is one of those nice mothers and our favorite State guy. Maybe he’ll have time to stay after to chat. That’s always been very nice J

Ok, our best to all!!

Mornin! Just 5 minutes left on the clock and I wanted to say good morning! Nothing more or less … well something more. Mornings are the most beautiful point of the day … they are not marred by unkind words or thoughts and life is fresh and perfect. Hobnobbin

Good morning!

Just 15 minutes left to write … Didn’t wake up until about 4:30, talked a little, then edited what I’d written so far for school and went back and caught-up in the courseroom.

People are still handing in the intro and first real paper and commenting. There are only two people that have handed in the paper I am working on … so, we’re ok, there. Technically not due to Sunday, but I’d really like to have it over with by tomorrow. I’d like to read ahead and get jump on next paper due over the weekend. Takes off a lot of stress not to be worrying about Wednesday assignments due.

Not much happening in our world over last 24 hours. Sr. remains grouchy, but we got some work accomplished anyway, and of course, the assistant will be back this morning YAYYYYY!!! I wrote up cards of work that we both had to accomplish today, I think it will get us over the edge, so that I can officially say a couple of clients are 100% ready for state inspection. That’s all we really need, but we will continue going through the caseload until all 20 clients caught up. There are about 10 pretty well advanced. Some of the back 10 aren’t really far behind, just need to finish their Qnotes (assistant) and their annual reports and collect a few other paper items. They are toward the back end, because some of their annual meeting times 5-10 days late. L That’s not being very good at my job, but it was important to schedule the meetings when the parents could come and that sometimes missed the date due. Also some people schedule on time, but then need to cancel out, putting their dates off. I guess we just have to get better at scheduling ahead of time, but that pushes the whole calendar forward so everything the following year needs to be done the month prior. And, that’s not all so convenient to my schedules. Must be a way.

The nice thing that happened yesterday, was that although I was very tired last night and had to work staying up until 7 pm, my sweetie pie knocked on the door after I’d fallen asleep at 7:45 pm and stayed til 9 pm when he had to pick up his kids for the funeral. They were coming in by train or plane. Very nice surprise! We got to talk some about his day, and along with that came another of our cuddly fests. Believe me, there is absolutely nothing wrong with not watching television between a couple. I believe actually, it’s the way to go. Matter of fact, we were talking again about it … and it hits the same chord as _Bedazzzled__ was making this week._

Basically, as a couple matures, sometimes it is nice to have a little space between you that you can call your own. Sweetie and us have long talked about one day getting apartments across the hall from one another. Sort of like his and her dorm rooms J basically, the thing is that we each enjoy our own space, have been married and don’t need to go back there. The best concepts of it is inviting each other over. He was teasing that he would be into his TV show and I might barge over and want to talk. We’d have to set limits on ourselves. Like call first, but I’ve enjoyed the arrangement I’ve had on line, where you can figure out peoples schedules and work around them without interfering. Like if I know someone likes to watch TV at 6 pm, then I can let them go for the rest of the night. AND, no one seems to mind if I sneak off to bed at 7 pm and get up at 2 pm. Sure hate to spoil that arrangement! Nother thing I’d hate to lose, although I really like when sweetie is over for dinner, there are other nights I want nothing more than to come home, pop a box dinner in the microwave, and ten minutes later be eating in front of the computer while talking to a friend or reading some news. It’s my way to unwind. Up until 10 PM!?? Yeeks!

Hehehe ok, ok … I’ll quit … about time to be getting ready for work. We’ll have Dr. M. tonight. Just one more note. If you all haven’t seen _TJ’s new masterpiece video _… go catch it! It’s a beautiful tribute to women that would appeal also to the guys. TJ’s done incredible work, and there’s nothing holding her back from more. Just so darn neat!

Counting Up the losses and gains

Good morning, good morning …

How is everyone? We’re doing ok, but slowed time down a little. We cancelled work for a couple of days until we see the medical doctor on Tuesday. Dr. M. confirmed that our pain problem was because we’ve hurt our sciatic nerve. Yesterday was super tough on it because of all the extra aggravation of normal work routines and taking the long walk to get to Dr. M’s office. It’s been confirmed that aspirin is the way to go, until we get medical advice from our regular doctor. Monday was off anyway, so hopefully I’ll give it a chance to rest some. That’s the plan at least.

And, as you can see the memory test is back. We had typed out some of the conclusions last night to our blog. And, now slowly, it is starting to sink in that there were a lot of negative things in that report that are, of course, a concern to us.

We are grateful that it was Kate out with Ann and Dr. M. last night as we spent the hour going through the report. Mostly, we were asking what the tests were measuring. We’ve not begun the work of putting it all together. We hope to go over it well enough, so that when we arrange a meeting hopefully with the neuropsychiatric specialist and Dr. M. we’ll be able to build a more comprehensive picture of how all the elements fit together.

Oh oh … just got a note from Sr. Tess … I wonder what this means?

“YOUR PROBLEMS ARE CATCHING UP WITH YOU....TAKE CARE

HOPEFULLY, YOU CAN BE HELPED ... SO THEY DO NOT HINDER YOUR PRODUCTIVITY.”

*Sigh* who knows …

Anyway … The reaction last night was first appreciation. First the tests indicated I was smart hehehe (though not in the very superior 2.2% range – shoot!). Eh, we’ll survive. We talked to V last night and discussed that the multiplicity and inability to retrieve information might have something to do with a lower IQ score. This is a question to ask the good doctors.

Also, in appreciation was there now proof that there really is a problem and I am unlike Sr. Tess’ belief, not making this up! There really is impairment!

At least all that was our first impression. Now, that the sun has come up, we’re starting to look at things differently … like shoot … there’s something wrong?? It’s going to last a lifetime, and for all we know, could get worse? Last night the thought that held us is GREAT! More reason or validity to make more SYSTEMS!!!! We do love our systems, specially when they work! Now, the thought comes in … we better take that seriously. We’re going to want to know exactly which parts of the brain and its memory/attention we can count on and which parts can be given partial retirement. Nothing like becoming more efficient even though our brain is being inefficient!

It kinda feels like that one Cosby show where they find out Theo’s school problems have actually been caused by dyslexia and not laziness or whatever. The thing is that people learn to work around dyslexia, right? Well, we are going to be determined to work around our inability to retrieve information.

When we were talking to V. last night we talked about a set of images Dr. M. drew on the board for us. It was a branch like structure with stems and branches leading to tips and whatever. Along the way he drew little bud-like dots. He said this was our memory structure. He pointed to one dot branching out to half a dozen other dots. He said the first dot might represent “apple” information, and the succeeding dots represent things we know about the apple such as being the color red or green, tasty, sweet, whatever. Then he drew a small box off to the side. He said this is what happens when someone asks me what an apple is. He went back to the drawing and above each of the dots he drew signs like highway signs telling what each of the dots represented, so the information could be better retrieved. But, then he said in our case, (he erased the signs) you don’t have any signs. We didn’t have the cues to let us know where the information was in our memory, although he said the information is definitely in there. Then we asked how do we know what an apple is? He sat down in his chair, shook his head and said, “Don’t know.” Period. Just like that. We thought damn, this isn’t good! Then we gave him a pretty frustrated look for not knowing … I know … be nice!

Frustration reminded us we better take our medicine we’re about 2 ½ hours off. It’s now about 9:30. *Whimpering* Ok, got to remember … should take aspirin again about 1:30-2:00 … no reason to be masochistic about this! Stubborn women!

Soooo, anyway … that’s about the scoop as far as all that goes. Maybe we’ll be able to spend some time with it today through the Internet.

Hmm, so where are we now? Thinking that I’d like to go visiting for a while, then maybe finish up that paper I’ve been letting sit. We wrote to Dr. M. this morning about a few things, so we’re kind of anticipating that. I am hoping to get an unmarred copy of the report, so I can forward it to the school disability office. If there are things I can’t do, I will look for as much help as the situation offers to get things done. I have to figure out ways to work things so that I don’t loose information. Hmm, maybe I should look into the planner again for at home. But, I would also like to have I think at this time the accounting ledger book for marking down various tasks and such that I am having. I know that if a system maintains that it is likely to be a better thing for me than not. There are still days when I forget to use the journal system at work, and the repercussions of it are that I forget what I have done or haven’t done. The best case scenario is that I use it faithfully, and its on those days, that I remain aware of getting things done, even though there are additional tasks added on the day.

Hmm, I’m wondering if Walgreens might have some ledgers. I could do that much … maybe pick up some shampoo. Anything else while I am there? Think we’ll have to wait on the dots for the journal system until I get back to work. I have extra there. If I were real lucky Walgreens might have some kind of date stamper though. Hmm, thinking that’s all a pretty good idea. If I can get in the habit of recording things both here and at work, better chances of follow through. Notice that’s its about 10 am. I think I am thinking from my better thought processes, because medicine has had a chance to work over last half hour. Ok, then I suppose that is the plan … We’ll meet up back here again later. Have a blessed one!

Of course, I know your intelligence is superior!

There is no normative data on this test for MPD`s. I would expect memory deficits, not necessarily organic, from this population.

Maybe speak to Dr. M about your felt need for another layer of systems.

I think the MRI is important!

Hi Ayn,

I have a dual layered to-do list system to handle everyday tasks to assist in decision making skills and for developing force of habit. This past week I went into a manic state and my system went completely out the window. With household duties and personal care needs piling up, today I utilized the force of habit technique to try to catch up. I had plenty of catching up to do, let me tell you! But I should be back on the system by tomorrow if I have no insomnia tonight.

It is good to know exactly where your strengths and weaknesses lie, so then you can turn the tables and use them to your advantage. At least, that my philosophy of losses and gains.

Hope your pain problem gets taken care of soon. I will be returning to stay in touch.

I'm sorry you are having sciatic problems. I know those can be very painful and hope you'll be feeling better very soon!

I have had a lot of therapy in my lifetime for a panic disorder and although my problem is different, I am interested in understanding MPD and am here for you anytime you need someone to talk to! I may not know the answers, but I am a good listener and a fast learner!

So much is constantly being learned about our brains via MRIs and CTs and just a keen interest from researchers and doctors. More information has been gathered and documented in the past couple of decades than in previous centuries combined. It leaves me in awe. And it fascinates me.

I hope you find a method that helps you. I will be following your journal to keep informed and in touch.

V appreciate your looking at the norming. But, ohhhh man you don't want to be the one to step me and my systems. If I were forever limited to what's in front of me, I would wither like a fall flower. :( I did however finish the last paper, yayyyy!

Tom very interesting dividing systems into everyday and decisions to be made. I've found at work days too where I never look at the system cuz we're way out there somewhere. The beauty is the system awaits us when we can come back to it. Don't envy you the catch-up. We decided to go easy on ourselves in that we label our projects with colored dots. Red is to be done immediately, orange then next day or three, etc. Then if I miss a day completely, I still come back to that same red dot that means do it today, so we're never behind :) :)

Darla, I have to apologize, I'd been over at your place the other day, but must have neglected to leave comment. I was glad to go back and give your post on multi-cultures another look. You are thinking about some pretty important stuff over there! I added you to our online walking tour. Hope you don't mind!

I appreciate very much your openness in getting to know us. We figure at this point … you also are on a relatively short list of people we want to know better :) Thanks for coming over and I hope the flu bug was squashed over at your place!

Christina, Dr. M. emphasized that part too, I had originally wanted to delve more into the problems and he came back with a "lets spend more time with the solutions."

I really feel good about yesterday. I dared a real shopping trip to get my new systems supplies. I have duplicated what I had at work, but instead of the short shelving unit over my desk I have a neat black metal mesh 3 shelve thingie that holds my new journals/ledgers, my dots and my filing cards. And, as a pick me up reward, we got a new date stamp and the prettiest darn paper clips you ever did see. They are metal, but gorgeously colored without the plastic layer like the old colored kind. Whoosh, just made my day!

Bedzzzled, I have just the tiniest minute understanding of what they can do now days with the fancy gizmos they have, but I for one am appreciative of anything I can get a hold that will teach me about myself.

I find it a lot easier in life to be dealing with something more tangible. Like the new system. It helps me focus on what works and gives me a positive visual. I whole heartedly agree the information known now about our brains is fascinating! Thanks for coming back! I enjoy being over at your place to see where your mind has traveled. Hehe ... it's got a wealth of wit and charm!

It's Going to Be a Beautiful Day!!

Good morning!

AHA! Back on track and feeling great! We were up earlier this morning and played around some over at school. Then I think we did just a wee bit of commenting and then talked to V. Who would have that I’d find another nut up at 3 am, just mozying about!?? It was Providence I tell you, Providence! After that though, we went through a period of pain and confusion, so decided to go back to bed. We’d been up for about three and a half hours. When we got up we decided we better take our medicine and shower, so we could get back to Office Max.

We had picked up “fixer-upper” stuff and as well a new, relatively cheap chair. When my father and step-mother died 3 years ago, we’d been given their kitchen table and chairs that have served as my computer desk. But the chairs were old and now the fourth one has broken. Most often the glue holding the arm together alongside the peg and nails pull apart. I don’t think they were expected to last the 18 hours per day I sometimes put them through. They are within fixable range if I were more handy, and might some day be, but for now, we figured we were in the market for a chair that would work and be comfortable. Wallah! As you see before you … isn’t she a beaut!?? The guy helping us was a bum and gave us too much static on loading the box which was a smidge too big for our car if you were going to put minimal effort into trying. We told him we would get help and come back for it. But, I don’t know when our friend will be available. So our plans are to go back as soon as our hair dries. Take the chair out of the box and load her that way. I’m very certain it will work, though not so certain how much static the store is going to give us. We’re preparing to do everything ourselves. But, the chair will have to stay in the car until our friend can help us get her up the stairs. There are disadvantages to living 3 flights up!

I figure will give ourselves another ½ hour or so to write before we do all that. Then after we get back it will be straight school work. Hmm, well that’s what we are thinking at least. I figure that we’ll go out visiting again toward this evening as a reward for good work done. We are going to want to finish the comments owed at school (four), then read/review the next five chapters for this week by the end of the day, and then tomorrow write the first paper due for the week for Monday morning posting. That gives us the week to finish the second paper, hopefully by Friday, so we can start the cycle off freshly. Good thinking, right?

Hmm, just spent another 15 minutes over at school. Reviewed the paper we had submitted although it seems long, I still like it J If anyone is interested in our school things, you can find them over here at _our Masters’ Blog_. Again, it will be another 3 months that we’re talking about multi-cultural issues. This one we were given two major tasks. The first was a scenario where a very poor Mexican American father and family had come into “our” clinic because he was having psychological issues. But, the main thing was there wasn’t a valid interpreter, so we had to analyze that situation. The second thing was that they’d given us a small chart of common characteristics of different cultures and we were supposed to related to the list comparing it to people we knew and then look at that more closely. It was kind of a neat exercise really. We’ve decided definitely to be thinking through the assignments again rather than an ethically challenged view of handing in previous assignments. We got a lot out of this last one.

Again though, it took a system. The text had already been highlighted, so we taped a 45 minute session on each chapter as we reviewed the notes and highlights, then we played the tape and jotted down the most relevant notes, then we wrote out all the questions the assignment was asking, then we divided our notes into the different questions, so we could write a paragraph on each, and then we actually wrote the assignment and edited it. Still quite the process, but I’m being encouraged now heavily by Dr. M. to do something very close to this because of the memory problems. He seems to think the more often I go over the material using different mediums, the better able I will be in not only retaining the information but forming good markers. It seems to be mostly about that … leaving ourselves some kind of flag, so we don’t forget the thoughts.

I think that our eventual end product is something quite unusual. We are guessing that because of the detail we put into the methodological part that our responses are going to be considered very comprehensive. That doesn’t bother me a bit! When we were over at _Gabreael’s __yesterday, we noted that she had talked about Karma and some of the values it held. There were a couple that stuck with me. One being you will get as much out of something as the effort you put in and energy expended comes back to you in kind. That’s the same logic we’re using now … figure we better be a smiley person before we find ourselves in an old folks home without the ability to receive in others’ smiles. And, we’re pretty sure; we’re going to be by then in the habit of God Blessing those fussidy nurses!_

Hmm, ok, well it is obvious that by now one of us is stalling. Spose its time to get ourselves in the next high gear. Umm, maybe one more smoke. AHA! A special invitation in the email from _TJ!!! __Yayyyyyyyy, we’re going to share in the excitement of _“The methodicals”_ as a team member! Feelin pretty darn special at this very moment! *Sigh* life is good!_

That looks like a fine, comfortable chair, Ayn. It should be a wonderful addition to your living space. Now if you can just keep the kitties from hogging it!

We wish we knew what happened to the missing comment - blogspot never sent it to us, so we have removed the moderating function.

Love,

Bon & Mal
