Mandala Work

Posted on November 16, 2014 by Twerner

I went to a yoga and mandala workshop last night. It was really interesting. I think sometimes I want to “feel” so badly that I miss other opportunities for learning. So when we set our intentions last night, mine was simply to accept all of my parts and be willing to let some walls down, feel gratitude for my internal and external world, and to stay fully present in that space and in my body. No small task…

We then received random intention cards from the instructor. Mine was about unity in diversity. All creation being part of a greater one, etc. I took it to mean that although I feel so torn and splintered, we are all still part of one and even though that one may be hidden deep inside, we are all still just part of that one.

So my mandala slowly came to be. I didn’t really have a plan at all. I just sat and waited to see what I was led to. And when I was finished, this was my interpretation:

The white circle in the very center is the original me, the one I was born to be. All the colored circles, some brighter, some faded, are all the parts that make up who I am. The white outline is the body which holds us all. And the white that permeates throughout the mandala is the energy from the original me that is still present in between all the other parts. We are all diverse, but we are all part of the greater one.
