Faint "memories" surfacing. Normal format?

In this post, no specific abuse is mentioned, but I do mention abuse.

I feel like I remember most of my childhood, with a few large chunks missing. Aside from a background of emotional abuse/neglect (which has troubled me my whole life, but which I had thought I had accepted and moved on from), I know I experienced some kind of specific abuse from certain people, but I don't know exactly what happened, just that it was bad for me. (It could even have not been physical or sexual at all.) I have never really wanted to know and it's okay with me if I don't know.

At the beginning of my DID crisis, a part of me came out, and when she came out, I suddenly "knew" more details about something that had happened. I felt a certainty about it. I couldn't deny it. But no feelings or details, though I could feel that part's sadness. Is that typical?

Since then, occasionally I get random images (but with no feelings associated with them, and without any intensity or interest) of specific abuse incidents in my mind. These images seem more, hmm, extreme that what I had imagined might have happened to me. I wonder if they are fanciful.

I understand it is usually hard to verify memories, but I am worried about my mind manufacturing memories. Is there a more trustworthy or less trustworthy way that true things might come up? What is the best way to handle these things?

I don't feel a great need to know the specifics of my abuse beyond what is necessary to get better.

Thanks for any thoughts or information on this.
