Experience with Inner Cooperation

Something big has shifted inside for us these last few weeks. After almost two months of HUGE changes and stresses in my exterior life, we have found a certain calm. It is a very strange experience for us. Even before we were diagnosed our life had a lot inner crisis. A lot of disagreements inside and just a general sense of chaos. For the last year it has been like that, only multiplied. Now we are experiencing this strange calm, acceptance and general sense of acclimation to our being.

Dissociative symptoms are being met with an "Eh...what's going on inside? Who is that?" instead of an "Oh my Gd. What is happening to me?" We are reaching out to each other and trying to help each other before we become overwhelmed by one's feelings. And, today we found a new part...one that is unfocused Rage and locked up in a deep cell. And, we didn't feel fear or frustration at there being a new part. It was more interest.

Switching is still very constant depending on what is going on. Yet, that is okay with us. We are not worried about it right now. It has become, well, normal. All day yesterday parts that wanted to be with the family and be social were out...today, Melissa and other fairly anti-social parts are out so we are spending some alone time tonight. My family isn't freaking and we are not either.

All this is good. It feels good. But, almost too good. Is this development common or have I just adapted to a maladaptive situation?
