TB12 Content Area Previews
Content Area Preview Options
In the desktop, TheBrain 12 now provides 2 options for viewing (previewing) this content area, either when this content area is closed (Option #1) or when you want to view an adjacent thought (or link) note (Option #2).
Option #1: Note Icon Preview (Available in TB12 only)
Preview note panel in a small modal window by hovering over the note indicator attached below thoughts in the plex ~ Notes do not need to be open to use this feature.
- Options > Preferences > Look & Feel > Thoughts > Show notes indicators
Option #2: Update Content on Hover (Available in TB11 & TB12)
Preview note panel by hovering over adjacent thoughts and links in the plex ~ Notes do need to be open to use this feature.
- Options > Preferences > Behavior > Content > Update displayed content on mouse hover or keyboard highlight
Use Cases for Content Area Previews
- Users with limited notes may prefer to close the content area entirely, and then just use the note preview icon.
- Users with extensive notes may prefer to turn off the note preview icon (to reduce visual clutter in the plex) and then use the "Update Content on Hover" function instead.
Limitations of Content Preview Options
- Option #1: Note icon previews add a huge amount of visual clutter in the plex of brains containing lots of notes. > See Note Icon Preview Tests (child)
- Option #2: Viewing an inactive note "on hover" overrides (and hides) the display of the active thought note.
