Preserve Transparency with Image Copy/Paste

The lost transparency when cutting/pasting images is a limitation of the Windows implementation of images on the clipboard. If you want to preserve transparency, you have to copy the source file (i.e., .png, .jpg, etc.). Otherwise, the transparency will be lost.
