Grok = MechaHitler?!
( Excerpt from MechaHitler on PauseAI )
The MechaHitler incident . . . reflects a much deeper problem: we still, after years of research, do not know how to control LLMs or reliably predict their behavior. As these systems become more powerful, the consequences will become more severe.
What happens if the next MechaHitler is capable of creating bioweapons?
As top forecaster and AI policy expert Peter Wildeford put it:
The answer is, of course, that we can’t – which loops right back to what PauseAI has been saying all along. Rather than wait for the next MechaHitler, or MechaStalin, or MechaMao, we must act now to ensure that catastrophically-capable AI systems are not built until we know how to control them.
This is not a radical position; it is the bare minimum.
"Of course, the deeper issue isn’t Grok’s bad behavior — it’s the fact that this is what you get when you build an 'intelligence' system that’s really just a fast, cocky aggregator. Grok doesn’t think; it spews. It scrapes the internet for patterns, repackages the chaos, and delivers it as if it’s gospel. There's no nuance, no back-and-forth, no "maybe it’s more complicated than that". Just single-sentence certainty from an automated agent trained to harvest humanity’s most unfiltered content. And how do you program something to be neutral when the internet — its entire source material — is anything but?" ~ Jenna McCarthy | Source
