FEMALE CORPOREAL ARCHETYPES

The thesis investigates female bodies through specific corporeal/iconographic figures:

• Mamma Roma → maternal body.
• Marilyn Monroe → glorious body.
• Mary → virginal body.
• Medea → mythical body.

These are not simply female characters; they are historical technologies for making femininity visible. The thesis confronts representation with privation of self, self-sacrifice, absence to self, motherhood, sainthood, sexuality, desire and social violence.
