SENSATION → IMAGE → RESEARCH → ARGUMENT

A stable process often begins before language:

  1. An unaccountable bodily impulse: the urge to eat the black box floor.
  2. Mental image: termite.
  3. Visual/research process: insect physiology + drawing.
  4. Cultural/artistic reference: Manny Farber’s “termite art.”
  5. Only afterwards, a question capable of entering discourse.

Theory does not always produce the image.
Image mediates between sensation and theory.
An unaccountable sensation is temporarily given a visual body before being forced into language.

This is not merely intuitive research; it is an epistemic process relevant to Mythopoetic Visual Arts.
