ERWIN PANOFSKY

PERSPECTIVE AS SYMBOLIC FORM

Panofsky is used here not for a neutral history of Renaissance technique, but to identify perspective as a symbolic organization of space.

Perspective → homogeneous space → vanishing point → fixed viewpoint → single observer → world organized in relation to an eye.

The frame does not simply contain the world. It organizes a relation between subject and world. The observer appears to occupy a stable position outside the represented world, while the world becomes an object of vision.

CONCEPTUAL CHILDREN

This prepares the question: what happens when the observer is no longer outside the image? Later relations to Crary, Pirelli, and immersive image are conceptual genealogies unless direct influence is documented.

Removal audit: without Panofsky, the Brain loses the historical formulation of perspective as a worldview and frame as an epistemic device.
