PRECISION WITHOUT PREDETERMINATION

PRECISION WITHOUT PREDETERMINATION

Generator

The combination of Eddie's instructions: fulfil the movement; the phrasing; stay in the moment; don't force it; question as lived state.

This is an important paradox in Eddie's method. The performer should be precise without being predecided. Precision concerns breath, timing, movement, completion, attention and commitment. The performer should not predetermine the emotion, interpretation, message or audience response.

Precision ≠ fixed meaning. Instead: precise form + open experience.

The performer can know exactly what they are doing while remaining genuinely uncertain about what the event will produce. This distinguishes technical control from control of interpretation.

What this trains

Discipline without closure, repeatability without deadness, formal clarity and openness to response.
