TADEUSZ KANTOR
THEATRE AS HAUNTING
Kantor's Polish history is marked by occupation, war, destroyed communities, and impossible return. His theatre does not simply represent memory; it makes memory return as event.
History → memory → repetition → material object → absence → live presence.
The theatre of death operates through mannequin, body-double, absent body, return, repetition, Dead Class, and object-survivor. The object can carry what the living body cannot fully restore.
Kantor → theatre as haunting → contemporary performance.
The connection to contemporary performance is structurally strong, but specific direct influence must be demonstrated. Kantor turns historical memory into a live recurrence rather than a completed narrative.
Removal audit: without Kantor, the Brain loses its strongest theatrical model for memory as an event of returning objects and absent bodies.
