Yukio Mishima
YUKIO MISHIMA
Genealogical position: contemporary sacrificial and durational performance.
Conceptual connection supplied for this timeline:
Mishima → erotic and destructive desire and aestheticised ritual death.
Cross-genealogy relation:
Ephia Gburek ↔ Mishima: transformation without destruction versus sacrificial transformation.
Important addition: Mishima is not only a literary reference for Clarisse — his novel Kinjiki (Forbidden Colours) directly inspired the first-ever butoh piece, Tatsumi Hijikata's Kinjiki (1959), which explored taboos of homosexuality and ended with a live chicken held between a dancer's legs. One Mishima therefore irrigates both her Western theatrical axis (Liddell) and the butoh genealogy she crosses via Ephia and Marco Donnarumma (see Butoh thread, Block C) — make this link explicit.
