BOUNDARY DISSOLUTION / MORE-THAN-HUMAN BODY
BOUNDARY DISSOLUTION / MORE-THAN-HUMAN BODY
Through Erika Fischer-Lichte’s transformative aesthetics, The Ferryman collapses human/non-human, form/process, body/sculpture, ephemeral/permanent, material/spiritual and individual/collective.
Bodies cease behaving theatrically as characters and become masses, vessels, lumps, unnamed organisms and sculptural forms. The unresolved question is whether loss of anthropocentric form reduces the human or opens it toward something more-than-human.
This prefigures Ephia’s non-human body, body of clay, Naiad and Nymph as hybrid body/image/force.
