CASSILS
Cassils
Body as ongoing construction
Do not treat the trans body as a symbolic metaphor. Cassils presents the body as process rather than given identity: labour, time, discipline, material transformation and gendered legibility become visible.
In Becoming an Image, darkness, physical impact and flash produce intermittent photographic visibility. The spectator cannot possess continuous visual access: violence → flash → image → partial visibility.
In works including Cuts: A Traditional Sculpture, the body becomes a sculptural process rather than merely an object shaped by an artist. Distinguish this from aesthetic bodybuilding.
Self-construction ↔ social legibility. Conceptual connections to opacity, pain/endurance, the framed body and the designed human do not imply documented influence.
