My Five Fives

I - The five “Untillit’s” about REALITY :

1. Until it’s hard, it's not love.
2. Until it's scary, it's not God.
3. Until it’s not what we would expect, it's not higher than our thoughts or ways.
4. Until it's impractical, it's not faith.
5. Until it’s likely to piss you off, it's not God’s message.

II - The five “Iffit’s” about the HOLY SPIRIT:

1. If it’s based in human ideas, it's not the wisdom of the Holy Spirit.
2. If it's accomplished by self-effort, it's not the work of Holy Spirit.
3. If it’s focused on the things of man, it's not the leading of the Holy Spirit.
4. If it’s feelings, it's not faith.
5. If it's behavioral modification, it's not the fruit of Holy Spirit.

III - The five “Whenit’s” about the BIBLE:

1. When it’s the Bible, it convicts us of sin and righteousness and judgment.
2. When it’s the Bible, it increases our confidence in God's promises.
3. When it's the Bible, it focuses on the things of God not the things of man.
4. When it’s the Bible, you live by faith not by feelings.
5. When it’s the Bible, you love others more and self less.

IV - The five “Whatit’s” about EXISTENCE:

1. What it's about is a living Holy Spirit, not a static man-made method.
2. What it's about is dying to The Self, not improving it.
3. What it’s about is God's will, not our happiness.
4. What it's about is confidence in God, not confidence of success.
5. What it's about is God’s authority, not our game plans.

V - The Five “Becuzit’s” about the CHURCH 

1. Becuzit’s about maturing in Christ, it's about seeking Him constantly.
2. Becuzit’s about our Father’s will being done on earth as it is in heaven, it’s about serving Him faithfully.
3. Becuzit’s about the Kingdom of God, it's about sharing Him boldly.
4. Becuzit’s about worship, it’s about Word and Sacrament.
5. Becuzit’s about Community, it's not about The Self.
