“Jesus is inviting us...”

One reviewer said about my material on the cross: “Yes, that’s right. Jesus is inviting each of us into a deeper walk.” The cross is not an ‘invitation’ to partake in something good for us. It is a command to submit to something bad or us (or so it feels at the time). Everything Jesus is about has to do with making our lives better, richer, more fulfilling, etc. Even loving Him is a construct primarily oriented around us, not Him.
