The danger making decisions on broad untested assumptions
“an unexamined assumption metastasizes into panic...which paralyzes tYyhe ability to examine the assumption”
Background:
The examples of Boeing when they merge with McDonald Douglas and NASA when they pushed the launch of Challenger all based on fears of negative headlines
The fear man brings a snare
Boeing was deadly afraid that being seen as hostile would be bad press
Nobody even question the idea that being labeled hostile actually is bad?
Nasa was totally preoccupied with not having bad press over another delay. Again who cares about bad press why is that such an overarching boogie man. Why were they so panicked about this precisely on the day when it was the most unusual weather that could've never been predicted?
And why did they not consider what bad press it would be to blow up $1 billion worth of treasured space Technology and a teacher in front of everybody including a lot of children on live TV
The fear of man and sloppy slavery to silly assumptions guarantee a disastrous thought process
The real question is why nobody ever question these assumptions
So this is led me to create another thing:
The type of people who worbry about "what will people think" before making decisions make the type of decisions that make people ask "what were they thinking"
“an unexamined assumption metastasizes into panic...which paralyzes the ability to examine the assumption”
