I'm sure it would vary from group to group, but we would sometimes do an icebreaker type of game (especially when new members came in) or something similar, one time we did a round or 3 of Pictionary :)

One of my groups would put an ice breaker into the check-in round, such as if you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be?

For me it shows off people's creativity and how they see the world, we get some fun reactions
