CVI talk today; great guy!

proteomics model of CHD risk prediction model;

we chat:

1) Lp(a): 1000 fold diff in concentrations across population;
no one knows what lowering from 60 to 80 or from 100 to 70 even means.

2) Lp(a) does not add much risk if your LDL is already low. ie it's not much of an indep risk factor.
similarly for high Lp(a) if LDL is high, does not add much.

it's experienced a renaissance in resch interest.

3) CETP: nah... he's been skeptical from the start.

what really matters is reverse chol transport not HDL levels (altho inv correl with CVD is real)
he knew that simply raising HDL by CETP would not work! told you so, was his response
wtih torceptrapib.

PCSK9 interested in it.

4)is CVD9 risk panel available; no not yet.

young blood transfusion... somebody is commercially doing that around here.
parabiosis.
