Phosphatidylserine serine

Phosphatidylserine (abbreviated Ptd-L-Ser or PS) is a phospholipid component, usually kept on the inner-leaflet (the cytosolic side) of cell membranes by an enzyme called flippase.
When a cell undergoes apoptosis, phosphatidylserine is no longer restricted to the cytosolic part of the membrane, but becomes exposed on the surface of the cell.

Early studies got it from bovine brain.
Now, its gotten from cabbage or soybean (concerns abt mad cow).
has similar FAs.

a prelim study in rats showed it was effective in 1 of 3 behav tests...

later studies found... does NOT affect memory or other cog fxns.

On May 13, 2003 FDA said no significant sci agreement of reltn btn PhosSerine and reduced risk of dementia or cog dysfunc.

All 10 interventions tests were seriously flawed...
most evidence does NOT support a reln to reduced dementia or cog dysfxn.

v limited prelim sci res... little sci evidence supports that claim.

sports claim, ADHD claim;

lots in soy lecithin...
and in fish... tuna, herring, mackerel..
