what is the nature of the memory reps?
 
how do we model memory systems/ processes?
 
STM = WM = working memory
 
Wm James had same characterization in 1890.
 
active WM has extremely limited capacity of only a few items  (a la Miller 56)
 
generalizes ove  vision/ auditory/ assocs etc.
