Battle of the 300. &#160;I saw this todoy on Hx Channel.... fantastic show.

Battle occured in 480 BC.

3 day battle btwn &#160;Persia under &#160;Xerxes &#160;(son of Darius) and the 300 Spartans under

their King Leonides.

&#160;

The Athenian general &#160;Themistocles led the sea battle and organized the blockade at Thermopylae.

&#160;

source was Herodotus.

&#160;

NOte: &#160;Socrates was born in 469 &#160;and died in 399 BC.

&#160;

Pericles led Athens from 461 to 429 BC... the Age of Pericles.</p>
