What is the Discipline of Machine Learning?  Will it be here in a hundred years?

right now ML is mainly just  learning a classific function from a data set....  need to broaden it out.

joint appts in Statistics;  biology;   (he did not mention psych/cog psych)

share a fundamental Q with psychology  ...  adaptive systems;

ML and human consciousness....  reinforcement learning

his main interest... studying the brain...  with Marcel JUST  ...  how are the meanings of texts repres in the brain.

(Tom is an exclt speaker... simple, clear, slow,  high SNR)
