created in Sept 2003 by Fei-Fei Li when she was at Caltech in Perona Lab.
 
101 distinct objects  (faces, watches, ants, pianos)  and a backgorund category.
total of  9146 images.   
 
Each object category has 40 to 800 images onavg.
eachimage is about 300 by 200 pixels.
