strands sep by helicase

single stranded DNA binding proteins keep the strands from re-annealing;

replicates from 5' to 3' end (using DNA polymerase III): no prob. for the leading strand but
how does lagging strand replicate? it forms in pieces called Okazaki frags.
first an RNA Primase lays down an RNA primer, then
DNA polymerase, then DNA Polymerase III lays down new DNA.
then DNA polymerase I replaces the RNA primers with DNA.
finally DNA ligase links together the Okazaki frags.
