Denise Faustman (Harvard Med School researcher) Islet Restoration.
 
Mouse research. She transplanted islets into diabetic mice and then
treated them with Freund's adjuvant which caused them to churn out TNF-alpha, which destroyed their activated immune cells,
particularly those cells that targeted islets, so that the transplants could take root.
When she REMOVED the kidneys with the transplanted islets when foudn that the mice CONTINUED to be free of diabetes!!!
It appeared that they REGREW their native islets.
 
Other groups did not believe her and replicated the research and finally they are beinning to reproduce ther reseqrch.
