Today I carefully examine Google FONTS in Chrome...

glory be! they have improved!!! their fonts are now at least as good as IE11.

This is not a reason to reject Chrome as a default anymore.

Try this:

 1. Right-click Google Chrome.exe
 2. Properties
 3. Compatibility tab
 4. Under "Compatibility Mode" tick the check box and select "Windows 7" in the drop down menu

I hope this helps.
