Protein combining

Oct 24, 2011 01:53 PM

plant protein does NOT need to be combined in one meal (eg beans and rice).

theory was init promoted by Frances Moore Lappe in 1971 in Diet for a Small Planet.

Note nec. to combine foods.

theory is outdated.

Cannot eat only sweet potatoes . (or only fruit);

essent amino acids ... lysine, methionine and threonine.

lysine in cereals is adequate for adult needs (but animal protein has more).

can get adequate protein from any one of the legumes, cereals, nuts, seeds or fruit...

even tho these are low (compared to animal protein).
