searchable surveillance.... given a photo of a face without a name find matches to this photo in a huge database

despite differences in lighting, angle etc.

see exclt white paper below... pdf on searchable surveillance... here's the essence...

security cameras and DVR's record terabytes of video info, but humans still have to search it to

find suspects... huge gap btwn what can be collected and what can be searched.

Unlike traditional DVR systems, which require investigators to sift through hours of video on each system,

3VR’s SmartRecorder™ enables federated searches for specifi c people, transactions, and motion across

large, distributed networks. Thanks to 3VR’s patented SimilaritySearch application, even if a face has been

caught in poor lighting conditions, or at an unusual angle that prevents it from being an exact match, it

could show up in the results of a face search set to a lower accuracy level. An investigator could also search

for a person, event or transaction across multiple locations. An investigator searching for a suspect could

simply click on location tabs across the top of the search results panel to view instances of the suspect in

Las Vegas, San Francisco, or L.A.
