&#160;

totally cool! &#160;(from Martin Blum)

also see discussion by Bill Fearon today at CVI talk at noon.

&#160;

non-invasive computation of FFR = fractional flow reserve =

&#160;

&#160;pressure in artery / &#160;aortic pressure.

&#160;

but they call it &#160;FFRct &#160;(derived from CT scan data)

provides lesion-specific FFRct values.

&#160;

r value of 0.73 btwn non-invasive FFRct and invasive FFR data.

&#160;

best way to guide treatment for CAD.

&#160;

where does signif reduced risk of death or MACE come from?

(answer from Bill Fearon: &#160;NOT placing unneeded stents and

NOT doing CABG when stents will do: &#160;also &#160;NOT placing

stents at all when medical rx is all that is needed.)

&#160;

see graph: &#160;from Koo, Bon_kwon from DISCOVER-FLOW trial &#160;in 2011

&#160;

CCTA &#160;massively OVER-READS lesions; &#160;FFRct gets rid of false +s

knocks them down from 38% down to 11% &#160;YES!

&#160;

DISCVOER-FLOW baseline: &#160;&#160;age 63; 72% male; &#160;bmi 26;

55% had LAD lesions

&#160;

Results from<b> HeartFlow’s first multicenter study (DISCOVER-FLOW) </b>were published in the <em>Journal of the American College of Cardiology</em> (JACC) in November 2011. DISCOVER-FLOW was a prospective multicenter study to determine the diagnostic performance of FFRCT compared to measured FFR at the time of <b>invasive coronary angiography (ICA)</b> in patients with suspected or known coronary artery disease (CAD). <b>FFR</b><b>CT</b><b> was performed on 159 vessels in 103 patients undergoing coronary computed tomographic angiography (CCTA), ICA, and FFR</b>.

<b>FFR</b><b>CT</b><b> led to a 70% reduction in false positives and 25% improvement in per-vessel diagnostic accuracy when compared to CCTA.</b> For more information, please click the thumbnails below.
