Select Multiple Thoughts

Selecting multiple thoughts will open a thought selection box on the right of the plex, and is the quickest way to modify multiple thoughts at the same time.

With multiple thoughts selected, you can perform the following actions by right-clicking the selection box and using the contextual menu:

Forget / Delete Thoughts

Set Tags and Types

Set thoughts as private

Unlink the thoughts from the active thought

Link to the active thought

There are several ways to select multiple thoughts.

Large Scale Thought Selections

To select all the thoughts for a specific number of levels, and that share a relationship (for example, all child thoughts), use Edit > Crawl Brain and Modify Selection. The window will allow you to specify which direction, and how many levels, and then will select all thoughts with that criteria.

You can also add report results to a selection. For example, if you want to modify all thoughts created after a certain date, first run the report and then choose Edit > Add Report Results to Selection.

Small Scale Thought Selections

For more customizable selection, you can ctrl + click (on the Mac it's cmd + click) to add one thought at a time to the selection.
To add all thoughts with a specific relationship to the active thought, ctrl(cmd)+click the gate for that relationship. For example, I can ctrl+click the child gate to select all the child thoughts of my active thought.

A note on Shift+Clicking

Shift clicking a thought selects all thoughts between the thought that was shift-clicked, and the active thought.
Let's say I have activated a thought and am looking at bunch o' child thoughts. I'm in Normal > Expand all view, and there are child thoughts with multiple parents.
Of the child thoughts displayed, I want to be able to easily find the all the current child thoughts with one of the parents, but not the other.
To do this, I shift-click on the parent whose children I want to see.
In the picture below, I have Applications, Newsreaders as the active thought. Each of the child thoughts have two other parents: Applications, iPhone and Applications, Mac. I want to see all the iPhone Newsreaders, so I shift-clicked the Application, iPhone parent thought (shown in red circle) and it highlights all of it's child thoughts on the way to the active thought, showing me all the iPhone newsreaders.
