Workload Management & Task Sharing
Workload Management & Task Sharing
Effective CRM balances workload across the crew to avoid individual overload or underload.
- Proactively redistribute tasks (e.g., one pilot flies, the other manages radios, FMS, and checklists).
- Use "time-outs" or "pause" calls when task saturation or channelized attention is detected.
- Anticipate high-workload phases (e.g., approach changes, abnormal checklists) and brief ahead.
- Monitor each other for signs of overload (silence, fixation, errors) and offer specific help.
Collect examples of workload-related incidents and techniques for avoiding task saturation.
