• Max Weber was a German theorist and sociologist who focused at the highest level of this new entity called a compan
• Shifted the paradigm from a family-owned and run business to an organization run on an impersonal, rational basis
• Implemented new ideas such as rules, org structure, documentation, a standard way of dealing with employees
• Unfortunately the word Bureaucracy in today’s world has taken on a negative tone with too many rules and red tape
