Cash Surrender Value
- Amount returned if policy is canceled before death.
- Typically equals cash value minus fees, loans, etc.
- There is a surrender fee, which often decreases or dissapears after the first few years. This helps the insurance company recoup it's losses, losses from agent's fee, underwriting fee, and so on if someone cancels too early. It also discourages using these as a short term savings account.
