Core responsibilities
- Making children Krishna conscious
- Protecting their development
- Maintaining a strong relationship
- Supporting their education
- Allowing qualified teachers to train them rather than relying primarily on father-child authority
- Helping them eventually find their svabhava and role
Minimum standards
Take responsibility for spiritual development, protection, relationship and education while respecting the value of training by other qualified teachers.
Important relationships
Children, wife, qualified teachers, senior devotees and the wider Gurukula and community.
Main capabilities required
Child understanding, affection, responsibility, cooperation with teachers, educational support and patient observation of svabhava.
Main recurring responsibilities
Relationship, protection, spiritual encouragement, educational support and coordination with qualified teachers.
Typical projects that may arise
No projects are created here. Future projects may concern family education or support for children's development.
Protection from interference
Fatherhood must not become possessive or displace the child's need for qualified teachers; service roles must not cause neglect of family.
Delegation and successor
Children's training should primarily be entrusted to qualified teachers rather than relying primarily on me. Parenting cannot be abandoned, but educational responsibility should be shared.
Role conflicts and resolution
May conflict with Gurukula authority, husband, community and preaching roles. Protect the child's welfare and relationship, respect qualified teachers, and balance family responsibility with the larger mission.
