Sanctification
Gemini Summary
Sanctification is the religious process of being made holy, specifically set apart for God’s special use and transformed to become more like Jesus Christ. [1, 2, 3]
The Three Stages of Sanctification
- Positional (Instantaneous):
- Happens once when a person first believes in Christ.
- God sets the believer apart and views them as clean and holy. [1, 4, 5]
- Progressive (Lifelong):
- An ongoing daily journey throughout a person's life.
- Involves the Holy Spirit working inside a person to change their heart, thoughts, and actions toward goodness. [1, 6, 7, 8, 9]
- Ultimate (Glorification):
- The final stage in heaven or after death.
- Sin is completely removed, and the believer is made perfect. [1, 6]
How It Works
- Partnership: It involves both God’s power and the believer’s active choice to obey and turn away from bad habits.
- Tools for Growth: Reading the Bible, praying, and following the guidance of the Holy Spirit help people grow.
- Goal: To reflect God's love, kindness, and character to the world. [2, 9]
