regs study 19oct
10 centrifugal force experienced as rising or falling (seems like vertical movement; NOT motion reversal)
Coriolus illusion: sensation of movement about a different axis from the one currently moving about (head snap)
- tumbling backwards when abruptly going from a climb to level flight
- nose up (somatogravic) on takeoff

17 IFR equipment
VOR/LOC receiver and DME are only required if that is the primary means of navigation used for this flight
trap
question may ask about nav equipment; transponder is not nav
see above where VOR and DME are NOT required (i.e., GPS is primary)
For IFR flight
the following instruments and equipment are required:
- Instruments and equipment specified for VFR flight (and those required for night flight, if applicable).
- Two-way radio communications system and navigational equipment appropriate to the ground facilities to be used.
- Gyroscopic rate-of-turn indicator (with certain exceptions).
- Slip-skid indicator.
- Sensitive altimeter adjustable for barometric pressure.
- A clock displaying hours, minutes and seconds with a sweep-second pointer or digital presentation.
- Generator or alternator of adequate capacity.
- Gyroscopic pitch and bank indicator (artificial horizon).
- Gyroscopic direction indicator (heading indicator or equivalent).
- distance measuring equipment and dual VOR receivers are not mandatory for instrument flight, although they may be helpful.

xx IFR currency 61.57(c)(1)
Within the 6 calendar months preceding the month of the flight
trap
If a pilot's IFR currency expires on July 1 of this year, that pilot would have 6 months, or until December 31, this year
i.e., 6 months have already elapsed so pilot has only 6 months to complete requirements

xx CFII logging instrument time
trap
Instrument flight instructors may log as instrument flight time that time during which they act as instrument flight instructor in actual instrument weather conditions.

without holding a medical certificate issued under part 67
- the pilot holds a valid U.S. driver's license
- meets the requirements of 61.23(c)(3)
- complies with this section
BasicMed does not replace the requirement to hold an instrument rating and be instrument current to act as PIC under IFR.
